Raileasy, an independent retailer of train tickets, is looking for a talented Product Designer to join our growing team. Based in London, we work with several established brands in the UK rail sector, including TrainSplit, Realtime Tickets, and SplitMyFare. As we continue to scale and enhance our product offering, we’re looking for a designer who is passionate about creating user-centered designs and improving the overall user experience.

About the Role:

As a Product Designer, you'll be working closely with the technical engineering team to enhance customer journeys, introduce new features, and refine the usability of our existing digital products. You will be responsible for creating visually appealing designs and prototypes for both desktop and mobile platforms. Your work will focus on product design and UX but may also involve some small design-related tasks, such as assisting with marketing collateral. Your main goal will be to ensure that users have a seamless, enjoyable, and intuitive experience across our platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborative Work: Partner with the product and engineering teams to design user-friendly experiences that delight customers.
  • UI/UX Design: Create and maintain shared UI libraries, design patterns, and templates in Figma or similar tools.
  • Prototyping and Testing: Develop interactive prototypes, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and evaluate the usability of your designs through user testing.
  • Consistent Branding: Maintain a balance between brand consistency, usability, and regulatory requirements across all designs.
  • Improving Usability: Work on refining customer journeys and enhancing product usability by addressing key pain points and improving accessibility.
  • Research and Evaluation: Assist with usability research and design improvements based on user feedback.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in product design or graphic design, preferably within a SaaS or e-commerce environment.
  • Design Tools: Proficiency in Figma, Sketch, or other design tools for creating high-quality designs, prototypes, and UI libraries.
  • Cross-Platform Design: Experience designing for both desktop and mobile platforms, with a solid understanding of responsive design principles.
  • Accessibility Focus: A strong understanding of web and mobile accessibility standards, and the ability to implement inclusive design practices.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to work well in ambiguous situations, identifying key user problems and creating clear solutions.
  • Portfolio: A robust portfolio showcasing your design work, including examples of prototypes, UI components, and completed projects.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Graphic Design Background: A background in graphic design would be an asset, especially when creating visually appealing branding materials.
  • Public Transport Knowledge: While not required, any prior experience or interest in public transportation/rail would be a plus.
  • User Research: Experience conducting usability testing and translating research findings into actionable design improvements.
  • Marketing Design: Ability to support marketing efforts with design work for collateral like social media graphics, banners, and event materials.

Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, with a proactive approach and strong attention to detail. You should be comfortable working independently and within a collaborative team environment. You’ll need to have strong conceptual thinking, the ability to translate complex ideas into intuitive designs, and a passion for creating seamless user experiences.

At Raileasy, we pride ourselves on our close-knit team and flexible work environment. We are excited to offer a unique opportunity for a talented product designer to help us continue growing and refining our offerings while making a direct impact on customer satisfaction.

Why Raileasy:

  • Be part of a small yet innovative company with a growing customer base in the UK rail space.
  • Work on meaningful projects that have a direct impact on the user experience for hundreds of thousands of customers.
  • Join a team that values creativity, autonomy, and continuous learning.
